This fundraising effort, in partnership with the Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador (CFNL), is to raise the seed funds required to support a legacy scholarship project to honour the contributions of the Jamieson brothers, Don, Colin, and Bas.

The scholarship will ultimately award an annual $1,500 scholarship to a high school student who has been accepted into a Canadian post-secondary institution in the field of communications, journalism, or political science.

Achieving the project goal guarantees the scholarship will exist in perpetuity, ensuring its legacy to forever memorialize each brother’s significant lifetime achievements in journalism, broadcasting, and public service.

Awarding of an annual scholarship will begin as soon as a base fund amount has been raised, even if prior to achieving the full goal. Eligibility and application requirements will be defined in the near future with ample time for submissions to be received once a call for applications is issued.

The Jamieson family will work closely with the CFNL who will be responsible for the fund/investment. The CFNL will also guide the application and selection process, ensuring transparency and best fund-management practices.

As an accredited registered Canadian charity, the CFNL has the knowledge and experience to expertly manage this type of fund/investment. Donations to the fund through CFNL or CanadaHelps.org will immediately receive a Canadian Charitable Donation tax receipt for Income Tax purposes by email.
